Association for Support of Women Candidates has conducted “Strengthening Female Citizens and Activists as Voters and Active Citizens Project” which was funded by European Instrument for Democracy & Human Rights (EIDHR) fund. With the project, it was aimed at promoting active and participatory citizenship and encouraging active long-term participation of women in politics, by empowering women before 2014 Local Elections. Facilitator trainings, held in 7 different cities in 7 geographical regions throughout Turkey, were carried out by using the snowball method. Women, who are in civil society having large network of relations and who are active in civil area, were invited to these trainings. In these trainings organized as informative trainings with experience sharing; civil rights and their implementation mechanisms, gender and human rights of women were explained by intertwining theory and practice. At the same time, with the project, it was aimed to support and be part of the solidarity and cooperation among women’s NGOs.
The cities where the project was carried out are Şanlıurfa, Muş, Konya, Antalya, Aydın, Sinop, Çanakkale and Trabzon.
